Elysium - New Poster

Continuing the latest movie poster trend of the characters facing away from the camera during the movie poster shoot, is the new publicity poster for Matt Damon's new film "Elysium." As we can see, Damon's character Max Da Costa is decked out in an exoskeleton war suit.

Director Neill Blomkamp likes political themes for his pictures. The "District 9" director is taking on class discrimination this time.  Set about 149 years in the future, the elite have taken refuge in a giant "2001 A Space Odyssey" type of space station that orbits the earth,

Jodie Foster stars as a Secretary Jessica Delacourt who is seems to be like a younger Arizona Governor Jan Brewer type. Like Jan, she is a relentless (albeit well intentioned - in her own mind) anti-Immigrationist, hell bent on keeping the rabble out.

As henchmen or minions go, Sharlto Copley as M Kruger, looks pretty damn bad ass  Working undercover as a sleeper agent, Kruger lives on Earth and keeps things in check.  Above the law, Kruger kills at will.

Doing the back to the camera thing is following suite with posters for "Star Trek: Into Darkness," and "Iron Man 3."  In the "G.I. Joe Retaliation" poster, half the team is facing away from the camera. Last year's "Prometheus" has Noomi Rapace facing away from the camera while looking upon a giant head. I am not sure if 2012's "Ted" counts, as Mark Wahlberg an Ted are facing urinals.  One of the promotional posters for "The Hobbit" also featured a shot of Bilbo facing out an open Hobbit door.
