After Earth

The After Earth official synopsis:

"A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home."

This summer the Smith family is bringing you "After Earth."  This is truly a family affair with father and son in front of the camera and behind the camera in the producers chair is Jada Pinkett Smith, and Caleb Pinkett, Jada's younger brother. Also in the producers chair, is long time friend and producer and Will's old school buddy James Lassiter. Lassiter has produced many of the Will Smith films since the turn of the century. 

M.Night Shyamalan's, whose cinematic record has been pretty hit and miss lately with the critics and with some of the viewers, is sitting in the directing chair for "After Earth." This is Shyamalan's 10th directorial credit.

So, essentially "After Earth" is a film designed to appeal to the Father's Day crowd as opens in theaters May 31, 2013.
